Restoring Hope. Rebuilding Lives. Reshaping Communities..
About us
Who We Are
The Samaritan Foundation exists to break the cycles of recidivism, poverty, and isolation that hold people back from fulfilling their potential. Our mission is to create sustainable, empowering solutions that help people re-enter society with dignity and purpose.
Founded by people who’ve lived through the challenges our participants face, we offer more than just services—we offer community, accountability, and opportunity. From youth development to adult workforce readiness, every initiative we lead is grounded in compassion and focused on impact.
Our Vision
To build economic meccas in underserved communities where individuals—regardless of their past—have the tools, support, and opportunity to create a better future.
Purpose of the Samaritan App
The Samaritan App was created to serve as a lifeline for individuals in transition—those reentering society after incarceration, recovering from addiction, aging out of foster care, or facing urgent relocation due to domestic violence, eviction, or other life-altering circumstances. We saw a gap in how society supports people during these critical turning points, and we built the Samaritan App to fill it.
Why It Matters
Over 600,000 people are released from state and federal prisons each year in the U.S., and more than 60% are unemployed one year after release.
In Michigan alone, nearly 30% of formerly incarcerated individuals return to prison within three years due to lack of support and opportunity.
Around 20,000 youth age out of the foster care system annually in the U.S.—and by age 26, more than 1 in 3 will experience homelessness.
People displaced by domestic violence, financial crisis, or natural disasters often have nowhere to turn, with many ending up without stable housing or employment.
Too often, people in crisis fall through the cracks—overlooked, under-supported, and isolated.
The Samaritan App is a bridge, not a bandaid.
By categorizing users based on age, history, and background, we connect them with real-time opportunities that fit their needs—jobs that hire based on second chances, mentors who understand their story, housing leads, support groups, and community programs designed for restoration.
This app is about dignity. It’s about direction.
And most of all, it’s about making sure no one is left behind.
